Roleplaying

In it's most basic form, roleplaying is simply acting. Regardless of the genre, this acting is within the constraints of a character profile and probably also those of a given scenario. Namely, the roleplayer acts in a way that they believe their character should act. Often this has little (or nothing) to do with how the "out of character" person would behave. In some cases, the roleplayer will be marked on how closely and correctly they are able to act out the character type.

Roleplay games are generally set in fantasy or futuristic worlds and ask players to take the role of a character and participate in an objective-based adventure. A player's character may form and lead a party of other characters, and through the game, will typically develop skills in fighting or magic, or other related areas such as weapons or armor creation.

The Isles of Aledeon Roleplay

The Isles of Aledeon is a fictional world, created and developed by the author for use as a "play by post" roleplay forum. Players can select a race, class and subclass for their character, based on the D20 system developed by Wizards of the Coast, Inc. www.wizards.com/d20

The Roleplay forums are designed to represent various locations around the Islands, from local taverns to arid desert and old growth forest. Players are requested to keep the topic and style of posting within the guidelines provided by the forum rules.

• Blood and dismemberment, fantasy characters (including animation)
